Embrace Autumn To Lift The Spirit

Autumn Bliss

While I am fortunate to live where there are four distinct seasons each year, autumn ranks as my favorite.  Springs renewal and summer’s bloom culminate in the bountiful harvest time of autumn before winter’s rest sets in.

What a perfect time of year to rejuvenate and lift the human spirit.  Crisper days and blazing colors invite us to spend  more time outside in nature, and nothing gives us that spiritual lift quite like nature does. 

This is the time of year to embrace the fullness of healthy exercise available to us in the form of raking fall’s leaves from yards and gardens, taking long walks in parks or on magical paths, or playing touch football with family and friends.  Exercise and play release those delightful feel-good chemicals that reside in our brains, and provide a toned body and a happier spirit.

Holidays wait just around each corner and provide the perfect opportunity to socialize with friends, family, and loved ones.  And think of all the spiritual balm of autumn scents that surround us during these times:  fresh, home-made food, the scent of fallen leaves and candles, the delightful smell of apples in a bowl or pine cones in a basket.

Take some pictures as you create autumn memories, press some beautiful leaves, make some applesauce from scratch, and watch the sunsets take on the same brilliance as autumns foliage.

Embrace autumn fully to lift the inner spirit.
